Meet Daisy and Jon in Someday Soon by Laura Ward!
One mouthwatering temptation…
All Daisy Goldsmith wants is to get out of her small town, leaving behind the bullies who’ve taunted her. Attending culinary school in New York has always been her biggest dream—a dream she’s not confident enough to pursue. After all, she’s nothing but a “fat cow.” But when her brother’s best friend, the man who’s always secretly held her heart, moves back to town after college, everything changes for Daisy.
One scrumptious nibble…
The Goldsmith house has always been Jon Roberts’ sanctuary from the crazy of his life. With a broken and dysfunctional family, Jon embraces the Goldsmiths like his own. After getting a real glimpse of the woman Daisy’s becoming, Jon is torn between his loyalty to the family and his desire for his best friend’s little sister.
One delectable bite…
As Daisy and Jon spend more time together, they can’t resist the attraction between them. Once they’ve had a taste, nothing can keep them apart–not their dreams, their families, or the difference in their age. Can someday turn into forever or will they bite off more than they can handle?
My jaw dropped, causing him to chuckle this time. “I’m a bit of a beast in bed, Sunshine. I’ll try to behave this time, though.”
One thing he said played on repeat in my mind. “Jon?”
He pressed kisses all over my belly but paused when he heard his name.
“You said something about it being a long time for you.” He turned his face to look at mine, and if I wasn’t mistaken, a light pink color stained his cheeks. “How long is long?”
He buried his face in my belly, talking into it.
This tickled, so I laughed as I asked, “What was that?”
With a sigh, he crawled back up my body to face me. “Since back at IU. Being back at home meant I got to see you. And no one compares to you, Daisy. No one.”
I froze. “Jon,” his whispered name sounded like a plea. He’d been home for seven months. And he waited for…me. Jon, the one my brothers warned me about ignored all other girls, just on the idea, the hope, that we could be together. And he trusted me enough to tell me. Jon changed more than I knew in our time together.
But seven months? Oh, dear God. My gentle beast might not be so gentle tonight.
I was hooked on this book from the very beginning. I went into this book thinking Laura Ward was a new to me author until about 10% in I realized I read about the family in this series in a short story in the F’ing Awkward Holidays Anthology. I was even more excited to be reading this book after the little taste of Daisy and Jon I got before.
You could feel the pull between Daisy and Jon from the very start. Even when they claimed to only be friends and denied their feelings. I was rooting for them from the start and wanted to yell, tell her already or tell him already so many times. But they both needed the time to become who they truly are.
This book brought out so many emotions while reading. I laughed, I cried, I was frustrated, and I slowly fell in love right along with Daisy and Jon.
Someday Soon is book 3 in the Not Yet Series. While it definitely can be read as a standalone, I will be going back to see what I missed in the first 2 books. The snippets of the other couples’ stories I got had me needing more!!
I have found a new go-to author in Laura Ward and look forward to more from her.
